Love is the building a relationship between two people, step-by-step, until the day they take each other’s hands and walk through the wedding gates. A successful wedding, planned over countless steps until the final day comes to perfect fruition, isn’t much different. Bride “Eve” Mitra, assistant manager for AIC Securities, and groom “Tu” Nitipat, stock market investor, wanted a classically styled wedding. Their wedding planner helped bring their dreams to life, helping create for both of them lifelong wedding memories they could look back on fondly throughout the rest of their lives together.
Shaping the Wedding
To create the look of a classic ceremony, with bride and groom able to look back at their wedding photos for years and years to come, the planner laid plans on the base concept of “nature.” Whites, greens, and pale creams were chosen as the decorative color themes. This had to be matched with the personal tastes and desires of the couple for an elegant and luxurious look, along with some use of their favorite color: purple. The planning team decided to use the contrast of the differing colors to their advantage, creating visual interest between the varying tones. The entrance area to the hall was dominated by violet tones—from the wedding arches, embellished with purple daisies, to the backdrop, covered in mirrored glass and strung with crystals, to reflect and connect the color and light of the purple dominated entrance to the more natural hues of the interior.
A Pre-wedding Photo Gallery Unlike Any Other
This couple didn’t just show their pre-wedding pics along the entranceway; they also set up a slide-show projection of their romantic pics on a huge screen, accompanied by a dancing water fountain at the front of the ceremony space.
Everything Before the Day…
You may not know, but a wedding that takes only a few hours total requires sometimes a month or more of planning. For some events, Chic Planner has told us of even spending up to 4-5 months before concluding plans. The key to successful wedding planning is the wants and desires of the bride and groom. A skilled planner can integrate the couple’s likes into their own creative concepts and, under the budget given, determine the details of every part of the ceremony. The successful planner will sequence every job that requires detailed attention, to avoid budgets blooming out of control, or worse, an event that falls flat, lacking the exquisite touch that the customer wants to see.
Order of Events on the Wedding Day
Chic Planner took 2 days to build the structures and do decoration for this wedding. They started by affixing ivory-color fabrics to all the walls of the rather narrow event space, to broaden and make the room feel wider. The team handled stage building, dinner tables, and flower arrangements—the latter placed individually, one by one, according to their shelf life. Tougher flowers that can handle exposure to air, like roses, were placed first, and only those that were not yet in bloom. On the day before the event, they were watered so they would be fully open and beautiful on the wedding day. The temperature of the room was carefully controlled to keep cold weather flowers prone to wilting, like gypso and hydrangea, looking fresh.
The Team Behind the Scenes
For consistent quality work from everyone on the team, the planner assigned each team member to a group according to their expertise and responsibility—a team for flower arranging, a team for setting and organizing lights and sound, and so on—with each team given the manpower appropriate for its job. For this event, with its heavy focus on decor and staging, the planner employed many florists and decorators. Chic Planner provides in-house services for every aspect of wedding planning. Beautiful Event at the Perfect Location
To handle over 300 guests, eating together in a “family garden dining concept,” Chic split the banquet hall into 3 areas. The first was the stage, built only 20cm high, to maintain a casual feeling and connection between the couple and guests, and to avoid awkwardly seating the families alone on a high stage during the wedding meal. In order to help keep things light, but lively, candles were placed on holders to lend a classy mood.
Next was the VIP tables: 4 long tables seating the wedding’s most special guests. To create a dreamy mood, clusters of gypso flowers were formed into floating “clouds” hung above the guests’ dining tables. A decorative frame and columns were garnished with barks and moss to approximate trees shrouded in mist, topped off with ornamental glass balls, twinkling in reflected candlelight.
Finally, the planner had to manage the area of the cake stage and banquet tables. The cake stage was moved back a bit to give guests a bit of room to gather around and to feel closer to and more a part of the cake cutting ceremony. Round banquet tables, overloaded with the couple’s favorite foods from outside catering for the guests’ dinner, were surrounded by floral trees: flowers arranged into pinetree shapes and arranged in alternating heights, to give guests the feeling of being surrounded and seated in a relaxing garden setting.
If You Choose the Right Place, the Rest is Easy
Just choosing a beautiful location with an elegant look and good food is enough on which for you to base your decision-making process. Couples should consider how their guests will be received and if they’re getting value for their money. This wedding was held in a semi-hotel—even without the ballrooms and luxury facilities of a 5 star facility, it more than matched the wants and needs of the bride and groom. Not far from most guests’ and relatives homes, it made it very easy and convenient for the couple to prepare. Pricing was reasonable, and the newlyweds-to-be could use the money saved towards decorating their event. Even if bride and groom decide to hold their wedding outside of a luxury hotel, they can’t forget the important details: is there enough space for all the guests, are there enough toilets, do the guests have to walk too far? If there is a pool or garden, how to control mosquitos? Is the event space overly air conditioned, or too hot once filled to capacity? These and a million more issues should all be considered.
